Julia Roberts Plays Martha Mitchell. What?

Sean Penn and Julia Roberts have signed on to star in a new Starz anthology series called Gaslit, which is the untold story of Martha Mitchell’s role in the Watergate scandal. It centers on Mitchell, played by Roberts, a big personality with an even bigger mouth. She’s a celebrity Arkansan socialite and wife to Nixon’s loyal Attorney General, John Mitchell, played by Penn. Despite her party affiliation, she’s the first person to publicly sound the alarm on Nixon’s involvement in Watergate, causing both the Presidency and her personal life to unravel. Let’s here it for Black Panther filmmaker Ryan Coogler, who, as part of a his five-year deal with Disney TV, is developing a Wakanda-based Disney+ series. He’ll also be working on other shows having to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but for now, we’re just excited to go back to Wakanda. Really hoping to see the strong women from the film rocking this show.

Ethan Hawke Lands at Marvel

In other Marvel news, Ethan Hawke will be making his comic book adaptation and super hero debut joining Oscar Isaac in Moon Knight, a Marvel Studios series for Disney+. Hawke will play the lead villain. Frankly, after seeing his riveting performance as abolitionist John Brown in limited series The Good Lord Bird, we would happily watch Hawke trim his toenails for three hours straight. We’ll keep you posted on the development of the series.
