5 Marvelous Mansions Still on the Market

1.10066 Cielo Dr, Beverly Hills, CA

Price: $59,995,000
Cielo Estate:
Of all the grand estates in the 90210 ZIP code, this one surely has one of the most colorful histories: It was the site of the 1969 Tate murders.

Full House creator Jeff Franklin purchased the property, demolished the existing house, and built a 21,000-square-foot Mediterranean masterpiece in its place.

The mansion was designed by architect Richard Landry and sits on a hillside with fabulous views. It has nine bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, and luxe amenities.

Franklin has had it on and off the market over the past several years, with prices ranging from $59,995,000 to $85,000,000. It’s also been available for rent for around $250,000 per month.

2. 23985 NW Grossen Dr, Hillsboro, OR

Price: $4,000,000
Roloff Farms:
You’re familiar with this bucolic location if you’ve seen the reality show Little People, Big World, which follows the antics of the Roloff family on this very site.

On the market for more than 120 days, the 16.46-acre lot that’s on offer includes a 5,374-square-foot, five-bedroom, 5.5-bath customized home. The grounds feature whimsical installations, including a pirate ship, a Western town, and a German-style medieval castle.

The reality star home also comes with the 3,600-square-foot Big Red Barn with offices, a production studio, and a guest suite.

This is just a portion of the original 109-acre farm, where the Roloff family has lived for about 30 years. The family purchased the property in 1990 for just $185,000. Roloff says he’s “still planning on new adventures and an exciting 2022 pumpkin season on the remaining acres.”

3. Cromwell Island Rd, Dayton, MT

Price: $72,000,000
Private island with unfinished villa:
The elaborate boat docks are done, but the megamansion was never completed on this 348-acre island in the middle of Montana’s Flathead Lake.

Construction on the home began in the 1990s after Robert M. Lee, founder of the luxury goods brand Hunting World, bought the largest private island west of the Mississippi River in 1989. Only the exterior had been built when Lee died in 2016.

If finished as planned, the mansion will include 45,000 square feet of living space.

4. 594 S Mapleton Dr, Los Angeles, CA

Price: $165,000,000
The Manor:
It’s baaack. One of L.A.’s most famous mansions, formerly known as Spelling Manor, is on the market again. It was last sold to a mysterious buyer from Saudi Arabia, who paid $119,750,000 in 2019.

This is the chateau-style mansion that was built in 1990 by TV magnate Aaron Spelling. It features 14 bedrooms, 27 bathrooms, a gift-wrapping room, a screening room, a bowling alley, and a beauty salon.

After Spelling’s death, wife Candy Spelling sold the 5-acre property for $85 million to Petra Ecclestone, daughter of Formula 1 mogul Bernie Ecclestone. She added a nightclub and parking space for 100 cars, among other amenities, before selling it.

The property has been on the market with the ambitious price tag a little over 200 days.

5. 714 Steiner St, San Francisco, CA

Price: $3,550,000
Pink Painted Lady:
Sitting pretty on Postcard Row in San Francisco’s Alamo Square, this grande dame is in desperate need of a renovation. Built in the late 1800s, it was last sold in 2020 for the same price.

The stately Victorian offers city and park views, and the sale includes plans and approved permits for two units. The upper-level unit will measure 2,996 square feet and have five bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The lower-level guest unit will have two bedrooms with a separate entrance.

Make no mistake, this is a huge undertaking. The seller who fell for the iconic lady in the first place decided to let it go instead of going forward with the head-to-toe renovation.
